Sunday, May 4th. 7:45am
Sunday greetings from Mt Bachelor! Sunny sky and cool temps are making for a beautiful start to the ski day. The air temps is registering 27*F and feels just frosty enough to warrant an extra layer this morning. The sun is rising quickly from behind Tumalo, and in short order it will cast warming and sparkling rays upon the Nordic network. At present, the trails are firm and frozen, having taken a full and deep set during the clear night. By 9am they will start to soften and by 11am they may be slushy. The snow temp is -7C / 20*F. The projected high temp for today is 45*F, accompanied by a light breeze and cloudless sky. Yesterday evening, the full Nordic network was prepped with skate corduroy and classic tracks except for Maiden's Bluff, Rich's Range, Todd Creek, and Waterfall. The earliest groomed trails came out smooth and beautiful while the later groomed trails came out a bit rougher due to the rapidly falling air temp. As always, check Nordic Pulse for detailed grooming data:

It's officially Pole Pedal Paddle season in Bend and up at Mt Bachelor. For those of you who are gearing up for the PPP, the Nordic course is signed and available for previewing and training (note: the Nordic segment from the base of Red Chair to top of Blue Jay's will not be skiable until race day). Please be advised that Nordic is operating on Spring Hours (8am - 1:30pm daily) and grooming gets underway at 2pm sharp this time of year. It is essential that all skiers are off the trails at 1:30pm each day. Skiing in the later afternoon or evening on the fresh afternoon groom before it has had time to set can leave deep ruts that will freeze overnight and become treacherous for skiers the following day. We are happy to report full compliance so far and sincerely appreciate your cooperation.
